Dr.
Ira Tucker is originally from Baltimore, Md. He attended the
University of Maryland and graduated from the Pennsylvania College of
Optometry. In 1978, Dr. Tucker was one of five recipients nationwide of
an award for original research in Optometry. He was recognized by the
College of Optometry with a certificate of clinical excellence.
Dr. Tucker has been practicing Optometry in Cary since December 1980.
His areas of specialty include primary care and contact lenses and he
has published articles in professional literature in each of these areas.
He has been a member of the North Carolina Optometric Society and the American Optometric Association for more than 25 years
and a charter member of the Contact Lens Section and the Sports Vision
Section of AOA. Dr. Tucker and his wife, Linda have 2 sons, Stephen and
Michael. He has been an active member of the Cary Kiwanis Club for more
than 10 years. Dr. Tucker has served on the Board of Directors of Life
Experience for 5 years and on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission
for 6 years.
Dr. Tucker is experienced in refractive surgery co-management, glaucoma management, contact lense fittings and care, and primary optometric care for patients of all ages.
Dr.
Natalie Wieand is originally from Los Altos, California.
She graduated from the University of California, San Diego where she received
a BA and BS degree in 1981. She received her Doctor of Optometry
degree from Southern California College of Optometry in 1985.
Dr. Wieand specializes in fitting all types of contacts. She is
certified in accelerated orthokeratology, a non-surgical alternative to
refractive surgery. She enjoys challenging contact lens fitting
such as patients with keratoconus, bifocal contact lenses, astigmatism
and post refractive irregular corneas. In addition she is experienced
in refractive surgery co-management and treatment and management of ocular
diseases.
She is an active member in the Eastern District Optometry Society, the
North Carolina Optometric Society, the American Optometric Association,
the Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the AOA,
and the National Orthokeratology Academy of America.
Dr. Wieand and her husband and two children
moved from San Diego, California
to Cary, North Carolina in 1993.
